Neothaon3 – Wonderful World

Neothaon3 wrote and performed these lyrics, to a track I wrote and then sampled the chorus of the James Morrison song “Wonderful World”. The second verse is so timely with what’s going on in this country right now.

Erin Bowman – Picture of Tonight

hey peeps – a REALLY fun song written by Erin Bowman and I.

opinion poll…

- do you think this would be a good graduation song?

- do you like it when Erin sings “CA-AR” in the first verse?  i think it’s cool and really stylized, but someone told me to change it…do you think they’re right? the devil is in the details mind you.

“Desire” …. Camilla Pay preview

update!

so we’ve completed 3 songs for Camilla Pay.  She is a london based harpist, singer-songwriter.  When we first started the project, I asked Camilla to record some harp improvs/ideas and email them to me.  She sent me little iphone sound memo files, I put them in pro tools and cut them up into forms, which we then wrote full songs to.

I later went to the UK where we re-recorded the harp parts.  Then Camilla came to NYC and we cut the vocals for the songs in a few days.

we are using a similar process to write the rest of the album, including skype writing and recording sessions…gotta love the interwebs.

here’s a little preview of this amazing, creative and talented artist:

“Desire” by Camilla Pay and JJ Appleton

produced by JJ Appleton

mixed by Matt Anthony, Engine Sound

Size2Shoes “leak”

after my pre-requisite “don’t listen to an album for a while after it’s done” scenario, I took a listen to the new Size2Shoes album that was my life 2 months this summer.  i’m so freakin’ excited about this album!!!!  so I asked the band if I could give you, my loyal readers, a taste of what it’s all about.

Eoin (pronounced “Owen”) and Moley are brothers from Limerick, Ireland.  They are incredible songwriters, singers and performers.  Big things are on the horizon for them and I hope you become a fan the way I have.

credits:

Deep Sleep

produced by JJ Appleton

written by Eoin & Moley  O’Suilleabhain

engineered and mixed by Robert Smith

Eoin:  vocals, acoustic guitar,

Moley:  vocals, beatbox

Brian Delaney : Drums, percussion

Volkswagon – yup

Hey All -

here’s a piece of music i forgot about and came across today…it’s for this Volkswagon commercial in Germany.

my favorite part of recording this was doing the vocal.  I love to sing in the style of someone I am not.

Things I’m learning

it’s been a crazy time of transition into some very big things for me and the artists I’m working with.  here’s what I’m learning:

- try to understand where all parties in a business deal are coming from and put yourself in their shoes.

- ask questions as inferred suggestions as opposed to ramming your opinion (however right you always are) down someone’s throat

- the MUSIC is ALWAYS the most important thing in the long run

- to quote a close friend in the show business “some people just want to twist your melon”

- be of service

there’s probably a lot more but that’s what comes to mind this moment.

news update: what the hell is going on?

yeah vayveee…lotta forward movement in my lil world of production and such.

The Size2Shoes album is moving into the mix phase.  and holy ba-jeebus I can’t wait for you all to hear this album.   The challenge, of course, with any “singer-songwriter” album is to capture what they do, but expand on it musically with different arrangements and instrumentation that pushes the music to it’s full potential.  But ya can’t lose what they’re about trying to impress the world with your 70 piece orchestral arrangements and hip hop beats.  It HAS to all make sense. I believe we’ve done this.

many new Erin Bowman tracks are in the works, we threw a single up on itunes for the hell of it and some big industry news for Erin is coming soon!

the amazing Camilla Pay will be coming next month to New York City to continue what we started in London!  We’ll be vocalizing and adding fairy dust to the 3 tracks we have.  I’m really really excited for you to hear this music as it’s a very unique spin on pop.

I’ve also been “associating” with an amazing incubator of very talented hip hop artists/producers from Long Island.   These are NOT your run of the mill rappers.  there is some serious originality going on with some of these folks.  see if you can spot them on Neothaon3′s mixtape, The 516 Tape .

be well!
